Now about my second additional website which has also been redesigned johannesgerard-printedmatters.jimdosite. The site focuses solely on printmaking. In general I publish printmaking here that differs by style, subject matter and purpose from my other visual artwork and projects that I usually create. Besides some linocuts and drypoint etchings, this site contains mostly minimalist, conceptual and several very colorful figurative and semi-figurative prints. The ideas for the prints originally came from designs for wall paintings. The prints tend more towards a decorative style but still have their own character and tension. Another feature is that almost all of these prints are square format and abstract in style, except for the linocuts and drypoint works. Just like my photography website, this site is also an informative addition to my Etsy online shop.

 At the moment I run two simple additional websites beside my general personal webite and my site on vimeo. One site focuses on photography and other  on printmaking. Last week I redesigned the photography website johannesgerard-images. The work presented on the website shows a range of styles including nudes, landscapes and seascapes, urban subjects and floral motifs. At the same time, the website is an informational supplement to my online Etsy shop, so this website focuses more on my photography work from a direct photographic perspective and a decorative angle.

6th International Video Art Forum

 My video work “Fields of Home” is participating in the:

6th International Video Art Forum in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The forum is organized by the Association of Culture and Arts in Dammam – KSA. and the Cinema Association. The forum will feature works by 56 artists from 29 countries, all contributing to a diverse exhibition of creative video art. The forum will take place in mid-December 2024 at various locations in Dammam, with highlights between December 9 and 18, 2024, for example. It will include screenings at Tek Al-Khabar Cinemas, seminars and workshops, such as a workshop on video art creation using AI. As well as discussions on the future of the film industry and video art production, highlighting the importance of advancing the visual culture movement and promoting and encouraging artists. The main organizer is the Association of Culture and Arts in Dammam. In its previous editions, the forum showcased over 823 artworks from more than 70 countries and hosted 31 specialized seminars and art workshops. Recognized as the first international gathering of its kind in the Gulf region, the forum has become a prominent platform for artists from around the world.

The SMALL WORKS Exhibition will be on view over the festive period until the beginning of January 2025. This exhibition will include a diverse display including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media and digital works. It will invite viewers to reconsider how scale matters and shapes the way someone experiences art. There is no specific theme. Each piece will be 30cm x 30cm or under, including the mount/frame.

From time to time I work with mixed media. These can be artist books, objects or paper collages. The small-format work entitled “3347” is one of the works that are created with painting, chalk pencils and paper collages on paper.
