Respublika ! Unfolding-Unwrapped in Nicosia - New Variant

13 & 15 December 2017, Phaneromeni Square, Nicosia

On 13^th and 15^th of December I conducted the workshop/perfomance 3 & 4 in Nicosia on the Phaneromeri Square.

However at the end it turned to be out I created a complet new version of Unfolding-Unwrapped.

The beginning of the workshop/performance on 13^th didn´t get really from the ground. Very different from Limassol. Nevertheless within half hour I tried a new variation out for to catch the attention of people passing by. Material and basic concepted stayed te same. By now my role in the performance became more active and the project move more towards a participartory street performance then to be a workshop. Social Sculpture workshop/performance Unfolding-Unwrapped

At the Respublika Festival I conduct four workshops. All workshops happend in the public space. The idea is that also people who pass by can partcitipated spontaneously .
Two workshops already took place in Limassol at 9th and  11th of December  2017. The other two will take place on 13tn and 15th of December in the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia on the Phaneromeni (sometimes also written as Faneromeni) Square in the old town at 15.00 h (3pm).

The location of Unfolding-Unwrapped in Limassol was on Plateia Iroon (Heroes Square).

My video Two Lovers will be screened. A short and very metaphoric and symbolized video about love, lovers, memories, doubts and the inner strife which results from this kind of situation. However there can be more then one interpretation. Just to mention one : One lover for the heart and one lover for good sex

Taking part in PODIUM PULCHRI in gesprek...... with exhibiting artists of the ORIENT 2.0 show

The aim  of the talking series in gesprek.... (talking with) is to offer art lovers and guests from outside Pulchri the opportunity to get to know some of the exhibiting artist and their  work better. During this talk, the artists may talk about themself and their work in the ORIENT 2.0 exhibition , answer questions from visitors and thus provide more insight into their way of working. At the same time non-members are introduced to Pulchri Studio. The Festival is a video exhibition designed for 3 days, in which materials that range from Video Art to new video trends are presented (projected). This year will be focused on both international video art and the production of videos by local artists. CLOSE UP offers the opportunity to present new video works of emerging or established artists and is interested in the fact that the art made in video not only circulates in museums and galleries, but also reaches other spaces and a wider audience.

Opening of the final exhibition of the Indo-German Art Forum at Arts Acre

At the end I show my installation 9038 Cobwebs Garden with I created specially for the forum and exhibtion. Furthermore a series of documentary photos about the workshop/performance Unfolding-Unwrapped.

Finally a selection of video works Night, Street, Lantern, Pharmacy , Knife-Relation ! and Sorrow. As well sequences from Unfolding-Unwrapped in St. Petersburg and video presenttion of my installation 9038.

However I was the only installation, performance and video artist under a hole bunch of some good painters and sculptors, therefor I was a bit a outsider. Video art, installations and performance have a relativly shadow existence in India and education in art schools and art academies in India still focus very strongly on painting, sculpting and printmaking. Even in art circles yet a lot of people are not standing very open against the so called new media disciplines. My final conclusion in general about the forum is the exchange between Indian and German artist could have been deeper and should have given more and better time arrgenments. However the goal to show different art disciplines and concepts I reached. Even though I would have wished some deeper and also critical dialogue about my art, such as in Russia, Taiwan, Bulgaria or Pakistan.

Pulchri Studio shows two exhibitions about the Middle East in November: "The Orient 2.0" shows the realistic work of both contemporary artists from Europe and theMiddle East and North Africa. The exhibition "Marius Bauer: Addicted to the Middle East" shows the fairytale work of this early twentieth-century artist and former member of Pulchri. Due to the exhibitions almost simultaneous, Marius Bauer's romance and realism of contemporary artists across the Middle East meet each other. And you'll see how migration and globalization changed the look of the Orient over a century

Yesterday and today I extended my installation further. You can see the installation as unit, but it´s also possible to see as two different objects. It depends from which angle you look at it. The design of the additional installation is more flat and instead of blue jute belts I just red textile belts. The garden path seprate the installations, but on the other side it gives the feeling you walk into the installations. However when I took a look at the installations in the early morning, I came to the conclusion there are finalzied

Furthermore there was an artist talk, where specially the artists from the Germanside talked about there work and artist career.

Beside my talk I gave a theoretical explanation about the social sculpture workshops/performances Here & Now (for children, elementry school) and Unfolding-Unwrapped (for general audience)

In conjunction with the Indo-German Art Festival, I began create a rope and jute installation inside the garden of Arts Acre. The installation also includes five trees which are connected by rope in different size in color. By this installation which still has no title yet , but only a working number 9038 I experiment with different colors and material. Nature rope color beige, violet strings and blue jute belts which form a contrast to the three and the colors of the garden

The BINNAR arts festival will be held for the second time in the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão, between November 10 and 24, 2017. Among music, performance, photography, theater, video, sculpture, image or urges pass through the city, whether in exhibition, with live performances, in residence and / or to coordinate projects and workshops. The festival, supported by the City Council, has added several partnerships and different spaces of the city and the county (museums, galleries, foundations, schools and others) to present a program that joins free artist in all events and activities.

Starting from the thematic suggestion "homesickness", several perspectives of different creators open up. More than an exhibition of photography or video, it is a grouping of personal visions, as many as their number. Images. Better here we will speak of statements and non-literal works, because neither the curative look can be allowed to be conditioned to something hermetic, since the concept opens up, making itself comprehensible. Everything here forces a second look and the opening of seeing the other

The semi nakeness of the woman is a metaphor for how vulnarble we are when missing home and nobody to share our thoughts

The photo leaves it open if it is a arrival or leaving. The suitcases and

bags don´t show their secret inside. Just closed up as memories and the feelings of missing home

Sometimes comminication lines are not the best or you simply forgot.  But my one minute video Mirror in the Underground (Taiwan Series) with Tsai Hsin-Ying was screened at this festival in the beautiful city of Cuenca, Spain.

Land Type Fieldtrip is based on this year's Land Art Diessen, in Diessen (NL), which took place in August / September 2017. Nearly all participating artists of Land Art Diessen have re-installed their Land Art projects either in whole or in a different form for Fieldtrip. The objects have been installated along a 4 km long walking route.

My Land Art Object On The Other Side had to be rebuilt in a very different form. This was due to the nature and the possibilities offered by the locality. This changed the original concept somehow. But material and the idea of the contrast have remained the same.

The Miami New Media Festival -MNMF (Miami,FL, USA) is in its eleventh edition, maintaining its commitment to open spaces for experimentation and the confluence of artistic practices and the universe of digital technologies. The essence bets on the insatiable curiosity to investigate the potentialities of new and old means to transform the realities that we inhabit, and their meaning. MNMF provides an opportunity to rediscover the adventure of learning and experiencing.This year has a selection of 35 artistic proposals from 18 countries and three different continents. These works, as well as other curatorial proposals conceived for the MNMF, will be projected at Imago Art in Action, ArtMedia Gallery, Connect Now Room, URBE University, De Hostos Senior Center, Glacsytem Art Lab, and Vice City Bean.

My video work is based on the poem > Anticipating You < by the Russian poet Aleksandr Blok (St.Petersburg, 1880-1921). Influenced by Solovyov's doctrines, Blok had vague apocalyptic apprehensions and often vacillated between hope and despair.The work is simultaneity a metaphoric investigation and interpretation of the poem and about the city of St. Petersburg. The investigation and interpretation is done in two different ways at the same time> By the performance of the theater group DFT Stage and through visual images taken within the urban space of the city.

This festival takes place for the fourth time. The festival is divived into three sections local, Columbian and international videos. As the name already mention all works focus on videoart and experimental videos. 
The videos will be projected at different venues inside the city of Medellín. 
The festival also offers a broad  variation of  workshops, seminars and lectures.
